Who doesn’t love a bit of of #d4af37, rgb 255,215,0? That’s GOLD to you & I

Gold is a colour I really love working with. Although it can be associated with extravagance I like to focus on its more positive associations! In ancient mythology it was a symbol of aspiration and beauty. In the modern world it is often a symbol of achievement and longevity, like a 50th wedding anniversary or an Olympic gold medal. We can be ‘as good as gold’. And as a photographer the my favourite time of day is the ‘golden hour.’ In my work I use gold as a symbol of magnificence, history and glamour.

City of Surprises (gold mirror)
£2,800.00

45 x 135 x 2 cm, edition of 15 (only Artist Proof still available)

City of Surprises is created from an original photograph taken from Greenwich Park. It features one of my favourite views of the London skyline - boasting some of the city’s most famous landmarks in a single line with one small difference - for legal reasons. The London Eye, Shard, BT Tower, St Paul’s Cathedral, and the Cheesegrater are all there, alongside one building that I’ve been asked not to feature in my work by its lawyers. Can you spot it?

I love the shapes of the view’s outline so I have replaced the building that shall not be named with the head of shark. The ‘new’ London skyline is then laser-cut into gold mirror.

City of Surprises is made to order. It can usually be created and delivered in around 3 weeks.

I have replaced the building that shall not be named with the head of shark.

This edition also features a skyline I would love to see - my favourite London landmarks alongside some of my favourite international buildings, including the Eiffel Tower, Empire State Building, Sydney Opera House and Leaning Tower of Pisa.

The ‘new’ London skyline is laser-cut into gold mirror.

City of Gold (brass and resin mix)
£3,150.00

50 x 135 x 2 cm, edition of 10, £3,150

One of my favourite views of the London skyline featuring some of the city’s most iconic buildings side by side. The London Eye, Shard, BT Tower, St Paul’s cathedral, and the Gherkin all feature.

The piece is created from an original photograph taken from Greenwich Obseratory. The outline of the skyline is laser-cut in acrylic and placed against a sturdy block of composite material. The block is then covered in a brass and resin mix to create the effect of the London skyline pushing through the brass. The edge of the skyline is then polished to give make it stand out giving it a very subtle contrast to the brass around it.

The creative process for City of Gold is very complex so it is made to order. It can usually be created adn delivered in around 3 weeks.
