From my Little Los Angeles collection: ‘celebrate the big city with a little piece of art.’
My fascination with shapes and lines influences most of my art. On a recent visit I became obsessed with the twisted shapes of the Los Angeles freeways as they wind they're way through the sprawling metropolis.
I hired a helicopter to fly over the city with the doors off to capture this bird's eye view. I digitally coloured the photograph by hand, even the cars parked on the street. The image was then printed on a small sheet of brushed aluminium, which gives the piece an etched effect, and really highlights the tangled art of the freeways. The image is floated in a hand-painted wood frame.
