Marina City 3 (orange)
91 x 49 cm, edition of 25
The Marina City towers - probably my favourite building in Chicago. I just love love love them! The shape, the patterns, the concrete - everything about them. If you've seen any of my London Brutalist building pieces you won't be surprised. I'll be creating many more pieces based on these beauties.
I wanted to create a piece to honour their historical signifiance too. When they were completed in the late 1960's the towers were the tallest residential buildings in the world, and the tallest reinforced concrete structures in the world.
'Marina City 3' is created from my original photograph, digitally coloured, and printed on a super-slim sheet of brushed aluminium. Printing on metal brings out the vivid colour of the sky and gorgeous repeated patterns of the building's design. I've used bold orange, pink, or teal to contrast with the stark concrete.
The piece is a limited edition of 25 and made to order. It can usually be created and delivered in around two weeks.
