Miami Lifeguard Tower 8 (Lincoln Road)
52.2 × 52.2 × 5 cm, edition of 25, £650
Miami Beach is now home to more than 30 of the iconic Lifeguard Towers, each one a unique design and shape and painted in a stunning array of bright colours to reflect Miami’s colourful culture and art Deco history.
My Lifeguard Tower series are all created from my original photographs and digitally coloured. The image is then printed on a thin sheet of brushed aluminium, which makes the vibrant colours even more vivid.
Completed with a thick gold aluminium frame.
Please note: The pieces are made to order. They can usually be created and delivered in around 10-14 days.
Background: a towering history
The current incarnation of Lifeguard Towers began to appear when Hurricane Andrew all but destroyed the previous structures in 1992.
Architect William Lane created the first new stands. Others followed, with their designs commissioned by local businesses or the winners of design competitions.
