My fascination with shapes and lines influences most of my art. I love history and architecure. So a trip to photograph the iconic Norms restaurant was a no-brainer. I love the jagged shapes and orange lettering. It's a design classic, heavily influenced by Googie architecture, a movement inspired by car culture of the 40's and 50's.
The image is created from an original photograph, digitally coloured, and printed on a super-slim sheet of brushed aluminium. I’ve used bright vivid colours for the shapes on the sign to create a pop-art feel.
