Oculus
91 x 68 cm, edition of 25
The Oculus - possibly my favourite modern building in New York. Designed on the outside to look like “a bird taking flight from a young boy’s hand to show that no matter what obstacles the city faces it will always be hopeful.”
On the inside it feels like a cathedral with its congregation of commuters and shoppers.
This piece is created from my original photograph, digitally coloured and printed on brushed aluminium. This gives the image an etched appearance, picking out the lines and details of the stunning design.
I’ve coloured the commuters in bold bright colours to contrast them with the metallic finish, and to show how enormous the Oculus is.
‘Oculus’ is made to order. It can usually be created and delivered in around two weeks. It comes with an aluminium subframe on the back which makes it incredibly easy to hang.
