I love New York's iconic objects. Ever since I first visit New York I became obsessed with the yellow metal traffic lights hanging above the streets. And I even bought a Walk/Don't Walk lit box. They look like they're from a bygone age. There's something very comforting about them.
This piece is created from an original photograph, digitally coloured by hand and printed on a small piece of brushed aluminium, which brings out the vivid colours and the traffic light's metallic appearance. I wanted to highlight the contrast of the bright yellow metal and the patterns of the brick apartments in Greenwich Village. The image is floated in a hand-painted white wood frame.
