National Theatre (colours) 2nd edition in this sale, DAMAGED
68 x 91 cm, edition of 25
The National Theatre on London's South Bank is one of the biggest inspirations for my art. Every time I visit I notice new angles and shapes. The simple Brutalist block shapes lend themselves to my style of work.
The piece is created from an original photograph of one of my favourite views of the theatre, taken from Waterloo Bridge, with the Shard poking out in between the brutalist blocks. The image is digitally coloured by hand and printed directly onto super-thin brushed aluminium, which brings out the vivid colours. Using a variety of bold colours illustrates how many layers make up the overall composition.
NOTE: as you can see from the pictures there is some cosmetic damage to the piece - very minor scratches. Hardly noticeable. If you can live with these it is available for a knockdown price of £600 (normally £950)
